The
SIEO Project (Hospital epidemiological computer system) within
the First National Project on Drugs; studies on methodological
design of the system, definition of standards, designing of hardware
and software , implementation of a common language between clinicians
and computer operators; studies on the use of computers by primary
care physicians, in cooperation with the National Research Agency
(CNR) and pharmaceutical industries; implementation and management
of a national computer network of clinicians and gathering of
information regarding the population served by each clinician,
in a single database; the current database contains data regarding
over 120.000 patients. Within the Prometeo Project, studies on
prescriptive and diagnostic attitudes of GPs; implementation of
MESS, a model for the Epidemiology of Health Services which, through
the creation of a database and the use of a specific software,
allows the competitive positioning of Local Health units as well
as a description of their distribution through specific indicators.
